Lapwing Gardening Services are a new small business offering friendly and reliable gardening services to domestic customers, with the potential for expansion with commercial work also.
As a new business they were looking to develop a well designed and highly visible online presence which clearly displayed what they offer to customers. After researching other gardening services in the area and checking out the competition we decided on a website with simple navigation, plenty of colour and a bold outdoor style theme and bright images.

Avenue Tyres are a Birmingham based tyre dealer with a wealth of experience in their industry.
They have just had a full redesign of their company website as their original website which was created back in 2001 was not working for them. The original site was poorly optimised meaning that traffic levels were very very low, and it also looked somewhat dated.
The new site, which has been based on their billboard and flyer adverts gives the company website a fresh new look with an eye catching design which draws attention to the phone number in the top right hand corner. The background of angled red and orange strips has been designed around the attention grabbing rear door panels on their mobile fitting vans.

CSS has been used order to remove the plain looking page titles without compromising on SEO and therefore visitor numbers, and all image ‘alt’ tags have been utilised to ensure maximum numbers of visitors in the Birmingham area via search engines.
An SEO Plugin which allows the posting of custom META data without affecting titles in the menu has also been utilised to great effect to ensure that search engines are exposed to keyword rich menu titles without this affecting the appearance of the sidebar menu.
Combined Tyres & Autocare recently moved into a brand new purpose built depot in Winsford, Cheshire. They were not only looking to get the business visible online with their first ever website but also wanted a way to shout about their fantastic equipment and facilities which is some of the best in the industry.
The company operate a fleet of mobile tyre vans which have recently been rebranded, and the new website was designed in line with this new branding.

With a need to compete more effectively for repeat business Combined Tyres will also be using the MOT-Go system to provide customers with a year reminder encouraging them to come back for their next MOT test or service. An integrated sign up form will also be added to the website’s sidebar in the near future so that online visitors can sign up for a free reminder without even visiting the depot.
The website also contains a seperate section for commercial customers whose needs are very different from those in retail. It was then possible to add content to the site which was more specific to these groups, therefore improving the overall scope and reach of the site.
The most important points on each page including price, quality and brand choice have been emboldened on each page to allow the key selling points of the business to stand out and encourage the reader to phone in for further information and a quote.
Truck Tyre Solutions are a West Midlands based independent commercial tyre dealer with locations in Oldbury, Redditch and Newtown in Powys.
The company is part of a group of 3 companies which also include a wholesale and retail division, and it was looking to set itself apart from these other two companies as a seperate entity with the introduction its own website.
Truck Tyre Solutions are a B2B organisation and as such the site takes inspiration from other B2B tyre companies rather than the retail sector which tends to be much more graphics heavy. As such the site is more content heavy, with an emphasis on the points which are most important to their target customers including:

The website has been designed in line with the companies current branding with a very clean layout on white background and includes:

The sidebar contact form was added as an alternative to a ‘Contact Us’ page so that it is visible on every single page of the website. The technical data section has been used to show a real understanding of the needs of customers in this market, and what Truck Tyre Solution’s do on behalf of these customers in order to control and reduce their spend on tyres. In order to show the vast area covered by the company through their mobile breakdown service I have used the MapPress plugin to create a custom Google map which conveys the amount of territory they can cover, and how close the various depots are to main transport links in order to ensure a speedy response.
Previous research in this sector has shown that for every 1 B2B website visit you will get approximately 20 B2C website visits. Therefore I have added a link in the header section to redirect those potential B2C customers to Truck Tyre Solution’s sister company who cater for retail ensuring that some of that potential business is kept within the group of companies.
The company is also the sole importer of the Firenza brand of truck tyres, and an additional information section is to be added in the coming weeks to give people a better insight into the brand and to increase awareness, in conjunction with an in depth article in a well known industry magazine.
Everything Aberystwyth is a site which offers local businesses a low cost alternative to their own website, or an effective way in which to drive traffic into their existing website.
The site was created in order to help support small and local businesses, by allowing them to subscribe to the service on an annual basis to get a customisable business listing on a well maintained and regularly updated website which aims to reach out to the local community, tourists and students.
The site has and will continue to make use of social media such as Twitter in order to increase traffic levels to give local businesses even more exposure for their support. The site is supported through the annual subscriptions collected from members.
Further to this I have invested in bulk emailing technology, which will allow members to send out email advertisements to different groups within the community in order to provide them with more effective, lower cost advertising which is targetted at the right kinds of people unlike local newspapers for example.
At present I am working with a number of people and groups within the community including the local council on a number of ideas and projects to further enhance this service.
The site was first conceived in 2009 whilst I was working full time in Liverpool, and has been built ever since and contains a vast amount of local information including:
